Can you practice what you preach, or would you turn the other cheek?

E como eu queria dizer o contrário... Como eu gostaria de poder dizer que essa música não retrata mais a realidade do nosso mundo, de nossas pessoas! Atualmente estou me sentindo muito conectada com todos esses conflitos que estão acontecendo no mundo... Talvez porque agora eu esteja realmente tão perto fisicamente de muitos deles, o sentimento também ficou mais forte e o senso de que isso não era exagero midiático me consumiu nesses últimos meses! A gente lê as notícias e bate um desespero de ver as atrocidades que os seres humanos são capazes de cometer... Isso vai desde um discurso homofóbico em rede nacional por um candidato a Presidente da República, até Jihadistas decapitando civis e pendurando suas cabeças em cercas! É um absurdo onde o desrespeito foi capaz de levar as pessoas! E aí me (nos) vem aquela sensação inquietante de impotência: como eu, sozinha, conseguiria mudar isso tudo? E aí penso: "seu mundo muda quando você muda". Se nós formos, efetivamente, a mudança que queremos ver, tudo isso pode ser diferente! Cada um tem sim força para ser diferente! Estou fazendo dessa minha experiência aqui na Turquia uma prática diária de paciência, de tolerância, de busca da compreensão do mundo do outro e, principalmente, de respeito, mesmo quando todas as opiniões são diferentes! O resultado disso? Eu convivo aqui com pessoas de países de todos os continentes, das mais diferentes culturas e religiões, e temos a mágica capacidade de seremos amigos... Nós juntos não somos as sementes que continuarão plantando todo este ódio!

Convido você, que está lendo esta postagem, a fazer parte dessa mudança! Que o amor e o respeito possa ser maior do que qualquer incitação ao ódio e ao desrespeito! Que os bons sentimentos possam prevalecer dentro de cada um!

It would be great if I could say the opposite.... How I would like to be able to say that this song is no more showing the reality of our world, of our people! Nowadays I am feeling much more connected to all those conflicts that are happening around the world... Maybe because now I am physically closer to so many of them, so the feeling got stronger and the sense that this is not only exaggeration of the media has just consumed me on the past months! We read the news and we get desperate to see all the atrocities that humans are able to do... This goes since from a candidate for Presidency making an homophobic speech on national TV til the Jihadists beheading civilians and hanging their heads on the fences! It's an absurd where the disrespect was able to bring people! And then it comes to me (us) that uneasy feeling of powerlessness: how could I, alone, change all this? And then I think: "your world changes when you change". If we are, effectively, the change that we want to see all this things can be different! Each one has the power to be different! I am making my experience here in Turkey a daily practice of patience, of tolerance, of the comprehension of the others and, mainly, practice of respect (even when all the opinions are different)! What's is the result of that? I live here with people from a lot of different countries from all the continent, from the most different cultures and religions and we have the magic capacity of being friends.... Together we are not the seeds that will keep planting all that hatred!

I invite you, who are reading this post now, to also be part of this change! I wish love and respect can be bigger than any incitation of hatred and disrespect! I wish all the good feelings can prevail inside each one of us!
